HMC Gas Caddy Review – Pros and Cons:

Pros for the HMC Gas Caddy:

• The mixed HMC option allows different fluids such as Oils, Coolants, Transmission fluids, Kerosene – multi variety type fluid storage ability is available
• It is pressure leak tested 100%, it has the Aluminum Bi-Directional pump, it is seam welded and it includes the removable handles
• It offers good performance levels as it has the ability to pump 1 gallon for every 20 revolutions
• A 1 year manufacturer’s warranty is provided which includes all parts to give additional peace of mind

Cons for the HMC Gas Caddy:

• Deliveries can take a week of longer as they are shipped directly from the manufacturer
• Prices tend to be a lot higher than the standard for these Gas Caddy’s but they are well warranted with the extra quality and features that they offer.
• Additional shipping charges by the couriers can be a little excessive depending on where you live
• In terms of certification, it is only in progress for UL Certification.

Pros for the DuraMax Fluid Transfer Pump:

• This model prevents overspills or overfills and there is no lifting needed to transfer fuel to your designated area be it a generator, snow mobile, tractor lawn mower, boat engine, ATV’s and lots more
• Much lower price point is available and is generally found on sale for less than $200 so savings can be made when compared to HMC above
• Operates by hand pump so you are in better control of fluid flow to stop potential spillages or over filling
• It is resistance to rust and corrosion and it is made with high density polypropylene for added protection. In addition, it meets DOT & UN transportation spec’s.

Cons for the DuraMax Fluid Transfer Pump:

• This model is imported and made in China which won’t tick everyone’s boxes - please note comment further below where is states that only certain parts are imported from China (in comment section at the end of this page)
• Much lower capacity than the HMC outlined above as it can only hold 14 gallons where the HMC can hold between 20 and 30 gallons
• Flow rate is only 2 gallons per minute and the wheels are small than the HMC by 4 inches and it is designed really for lighter type commercial equipment.

Pros for the Stark Gas Caddy:

• Includes a large capacity of 30 Gallons and it is ideal for gas powered lawn and garden tools, automobiles, ATV’s and a wide range of fuel powered pieces of equipment
• Low priced option for home owners which is ideal for people who need to work off a lower budget. It can be used for bio diesel, kerosene, diesel and gasoline
• Built in wheels are included for easier mobility and transportation and includes the reversible rotary pump as standard and the easy-to-read fill gauge works well.
• You get a wide diameter fill neck for easier refills and gives good control to prevent over spilling and you get the safety discharge clamp which prevents accidental static discharges and good deals are generally seen at Walmart

Cons for the Stark Gas Caddy:

• Some of the screw fittings did not work as well as expected and the pump struggles somewhat with the 30 gallons, more like 25 to 28 gallons but still a good purchase for home owners all the same
• Manual states it holds a max of 25 gallons yet 30 gallons is advertised. Plus there was some discrepancies with the structural size dimensions
• Pump could be sturdier and more solid as it is a little lightweight so it would be more geared towards lighter duty type jobs
